So i am still totally obsessed with sky doll and wanted to sculpt a new head. I remember the first time i read the comic i was entranced with one of the characters whose name is still a mystery. Everyone in the comic calls him “miracle genie” but i have a feeling he has an actual name.. Anyways, i fell in love with his odd facial hair and sharp features… This is what he looks like

I want to start of this post by telling the world that my medium of choice is most definately paper/ stone clay(s). I highly reccomend it to anyone wanting to sculpt thier own BJD. The reason i say this is because its so darn easy to work with!! I forgot how much i love it because i had been using apoxie for so long on Nana (and i’ve decided that i dont like it although it is very necessary for certain things… mainly fixing my mistakes) Anyways,Im not going to get too into that i just wanted to let you guys know ;) And I think im going to do a seperate post that lists and compares all the different clays that i’ve used and say which i like and why…

Back to the real reason i’m posting.. Ive just made quite alot of progress. I was hoping to post alot more pictures but my camera died in between updates so there is kind of a big gap in the progress..
She now has roughed out arms and legs, i made a few more alterations to the face, i cut the torso and made a first draft of the joint, i made the hip joint sockets bigger and i made the back face plate a little smaller.. :)

So I’ve just recently stumbled upon the awesomeness that is the comic “Sky Doll” by Barbara Canepa and Alessandro Barbucci which has inspired me to create once again!!
I started sculpting a new head last night which is based off of Noa (the main character in the comic). If it ends up looking like her then great! I’ll make a sky doll BJD, if not, that’s also great because then i can do my own thing with a futuristic girl. I havent yet decided if it looks enough like her to be her or not.. Maybe once i get the eyes in it will help.
Also, I made an AMAZING discovery of a new clay that is super cheap and works almost as well as la doll!! Its made by “DAISO” which is the Japanese 2 dollar store franchise. I just so happen to have on close to my house and while i was browsing i saw this clay:
It says it’s “stone clay” whatever that is.. Anyways, i made this head out of it and it works just fine!! I still like la doll better but this stuff is only $2.00 a package compared to La doll’s $19.99 at Micheals :(
So yea, this head is made out of the stuff so if you have a Daiso store close to you pick some up!!!
